President's Welcome
Welcome to the Junior League of
The Junior League of Fresno has been a well trained volunteer force in the community for over 50 years. We are proud of our accomplishments and the members who have served with us throughout the years.
I joined Junior League in 1993 fresh out of college. I had always volunteered in the community, but wanted an opportunity that was more than the simple act of volunteering. I was searching for a well organized group, an organization that had a finger on the pulse of the needs of the Fresno Community. I certainly found what I was looking for.
As an added bonus, I was surprised by how being a member of the Junior League enriched my life. Not only was I a part of a premier volunteer organizations, one that others aspired to be, but I had the opportunity to gain knowledge that helped me grow as an individual. I started by taking on a leadership position, then board positions and somehow found a volunteer career path that was not expected. I climbed out of my shell, expanded my leadership skills, gained wonderful volunteer experiences and met quality women some of whom became close friends.
The Junior League is like a family, giving the member a safe place to grow and is encouraged to step outside her comfort zone. There is an atmosphere of support and encouragement. Something that is not always available in the workplace. I have had exceptional opportunities which come with being part of an international organization. The Association of Junior Leagues International, otherwise known as AJLI offers unparalleled education and training to its volunteers. Just attend one AJLI Annual Conference and you will know what I mean.
I am honored and humbled to be your President this year. I encourage our membership Active, Sustaining and Provisional to dive in, keep the focus and continue to move the organization into the future. Your support is appreciated and you all have a place here.
Our membership has changed over the years, but so has our focus and vision. I hope you will continue to be a part of the Junior League of Fresno and if you are not, I encourage you to join us.
